Michael's Biography

Michael Rosenbaum Jack Cooper in "Zoe"

Self-assured, dynamic, and possessed of a rapid-fire sense of humor, Michael Rosenbaum knows exactly what makes his character Jack Cooper tick in Touchstone Television's "Zoe." "He's a cocky, quick-witted high school kid who thinks he's already on Wall Street," says Rosenbaum with a grin. Michael points out that every actor brings part of his own personality to a role, but he clearly sees differences between himself and Jack. "I am less stubborn," he continues. "Jack has to beat everybody. I'm the first to admit I'm wrong; Jack is the last!"

In feature films, Rosenbaum starred as Parker, the eternal fraternity brother who ultimately provides the comic relief in the box office hit feature thriller "Urban Legend." He also portrayed George Tucker in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," directed by Clint Eastwood and based on the bestselling novel. Born in Oceanside, Long Island, on July 11 and brought up in Indiana, Michael describes himself as "a Hoosier with the soul of a New Yorker." While in high school he decided, on a bet, to audition for a play in which he subsequently landed a role. He continued to play the leads in several stage productions while earning a B.A. in theater and communications from Western Kentucky University, fell in love with acting for good thanks to the role of Scoop Rosenbaum in "The Heidi Chronicles," and performed in summer stock in North Carolina.

After graduation, Rosenbaum headed for the bright lights of New York, where he appeared in several off-Broadway productions and in small independent films. Michael guest-starred on some comedy series and had a recurring role in the "Amsterdam Kid" skit that airs as part of "The Conan O'Brien Show." His big break came when he got his first series regular role as Jonathan on The WB comedy series "Tom," with Tom Arnold.

For fun, Rosenbaum belongs to an ice hockey league, a sport that he has played since childhood, and is a dedicated New York Rangers fan. An avid musician, he plays both acoustic and electric guitar. His one major acquisition, a full-size Galaga video game, is a favorite distraction. Rosenbaum plans one day to fulfill his grandmother's dream of seeing him act on Broadway. He resides in Los Angeles.
